At Comaxel, we specialise in manufacturing large-scale composite structures that push the boundaries of engineering, design and production.
One of our most significant achievements to date has been the manufacturing of some of the largest Flettner rotors ever produced worldwide. Standing 35 metres tall and measuring 5 metres in diameter, these impressive composite structures represented one of the most ambitious and challenging projects in our history.

Working closely with our client, we were responsible not only for manufacturing the rotor components but also for developing and producing much of the specialised tooling required for the process, including plugs, moulds, jigs and other essential equipment. These structures have been approved for use in the marine market, demonstrating our ability to meet the demanding requirements of large-scale composite manufacturing.
Building on this experience, we continued to take on ambitious projects that combine advanced composite engineering with a vision for more sustainable maritime transport.
In July 2021, we began our journey with Oceanbird on the WING 560 project. Inspired by a shared vision — “The wind helped us discover our planet – now it can help us preserve it” — we joined an initiative that closely reflects the values of Comaxel’s owners, Michael and Katarzyna, for whom environmental responsibility is a key priority.
Throughout the project, we have contributed our expertise to the manufacturing of composite components for this pioneering wind-assisted propulsion technology. Recently, the latest WING 560 component left our headquarters and was delivered to Oceanbird, where it was installed on the vessel Tiranna and tested in the Atlantic Ocean.

From enormous Flettner rotors to innovative wind-propulsion solutions, these projects demonstrate our ability to transform ambitious concepts into complex, high-quality composite structures. They also reflect our commitment to close cooperation with our clients, technical excellence and the development of solutions that support a more sustainable maritime industry.
At Comaxel, we take on challenges where scale, precision and innovation come together — turning ambitious engineering visions into reality for a better future.
